Capacity Building of Social Workers in Sierra Leone
A long history of war has also impacted Sierra Leone in many ways that remain deeply engrained in the minds of young generations. The Ministry of Social Welfare acknowledged the promise of our program to help their network of social workers deal with the many cases that require a holistic approach.
As a first step, IBREA invited one of their officials to take part in our training-of-trainers in El Salvador. He spent three months as a participant, as a support, as a new friend. Without speaking a word of Spanish, he was able to connect and communicate with all the participants in a beautiful and meaningful way. His growth through the program helped him cope with the challenges instigated by the Ebola Crisis upon his return. He will lead the process of bringing this program to his country’s network of social workers.
Please take action to help get this program on its feet!
