#GivingTuesday. This is a relatively new, but powerful phenomenon. In 2012, the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation came together a month before Thanksgiving to set aside a day that was all about celebrating the generosity of giving, a great American tradition. On this day, it is encouraged to donate to charity and to causes that need support. It is the biggest day of the year to raise money and also awareness to those charities and causes, which allows them to continue to do good work throughout the nation and the world.
This year, IBREA teamed up with Global Giving, the first and largest global crowdfunding community that connects nonprofits, donors, and companies in nearly every country around the world. On Giving Tuesday, November 29th, they will match up to 50% of the donations that are connected to any campaign they have allied themselves with.
IBREA’s Giving Tuesday campaign this year consists of helping three, well-deserving students from Harlem get to the World Peace Leadership Program with us in January. This fundraiser will pay for their lodging, meals, and overall expenses of the training.
We have been working with a classroom of students at a high school in Harlem for about a year now, and we love it! The students are engaging in course material as well as the physical exercises linked with it. Since we work closely with this group, we thought it would be beneficial to send some of the students to the WPL Program to be able to delve deeper into what they have already been learning in class.
These students come from challenging socioeconomic backgrounds and they do not have funds for them to be able to participate. IBREA is trying to break the boundaries as much as possible to get more schools involved in the program. We are very excited that the students have expressed interest and we want to give them all of the support they deserve!

We are so thankful for your continued support! Please share this with friends and family to get the word out!
Giving is not just about making a donation. It’s about making a DIFFERENCE.” -Kathy Calvin, CEO and President of the United Nations Foundation
